Catching Up

I haven't had a chance (ok, haven't made the time) to blog since I was at Harrah's in December. Here's the quick recap.
  • I played 3 events at Harrah's and my best run was in the $1K buy-in with about 270 entrants. I finished 4th and was really happy with my play throughout the tournament.
  • After Harrah's we got ready for the holidays and spent Christmas in NC with my family and then up here with Jenny's family just after.
  • The week after Christmas, I started the South Beach diet and have lost about 10 lbs to date. I always play poker better when I am eating better and working out, so I am going to really keep at it this year (and beyond).
  • We had an awesome low key New Years Eve. We went to dinner with some of our best friends Chad and Mary and then played Wii most of the night with them and Kelly. Kelly kicked our tails at boxing. Not sure what was going on there, but Chad and I got destroyed.
  • I kicked off 2009 working on a new training course and held a session here at home in Alexandria, VA on the 10th. I had 10 students for the class and I really think this was my best one yet. I have already had several success stories from those who attended and to be honest, that's why I teach. I love getting those updates.
  • The next day, Jenny and I headed to Ft. Lauderdale for the All In Free Poker cruise on which Nick Brancato and I were coming on board to conduct trainings and play with the folks in the group. Students and friends Kelly Armentrout and Rick Leftwich were both on the cruise with us and representing Acumen Poker with their patches and my Dad and his wife were there too, so it was great to have them all with us.
  • We stopped in Nassau (didn't get off the boat) and in Key West (got off the boat for a couple hours). Most of the time was either teaching or playing poker with the group, so we didn't do all the shows and stuff, but who needs all that stuff when you have poker to play?
  • Next up is the Borgata Winter Open and I am really looking forward to this trip. There are a few great tournaments in the schedule and I usually bring my "A" game with me when I have spent a lot of time teaching. I will provide real-time updates at http://twitter.com/leechilds. This trip will also be the first one with the Poker Players International team in (close to) full force. I will blog about this separately soon.
Well, that's about it. Jenny and I are both fighting colds/flu/something (thanks to "Nicky Numbers" Brancato, I think). The plan for the weekend is lots of sleeping and getting ready to head to Borgata to kick some butt.

Decide to Win!
